History |
|
Scott County Lumber, Inc.
has deep roots in the history of our local community. In
1892, Foster Lumber Company was opened in Scott City, Kansas at 111 W.
4th Street.
In 1977
a new facility was built at 1510 South Main Street.
That address became the new location of Foster Lumber Company.
By
1979, Foster Lumber Company was purchased by Diamond International
Corp. In 1983, the lumber yard was purchased by three private
individuals from Boulder, Colorado (three former Foster Lumber Company
executives). They chose Scott County Lumber for the name of
their business investment.
In
1997, Gerald Koehn, long time manager, purchased Scott County Lumber.
In late 2010, Gerald aquired the building located directly to
south of the Scott County Lumber office. Joining the two
buildings together allows Scott County Lumber to greatly expand the
hardware products offered. The expansion has also provided display space for kitchen cabinets, tile, laminate, decking, and much more.
